Aramex South Africa is thrilled to announce an exciting collaboration with the Cape Leopard Trust (CLT) during the prestigious 2024 Absa Cape Epic mountain bike race. As the Official Logistics Partner and Sponsor of the UCI Women’s category for the Absa Cape Epic, Aramex is set to donate a total of R40,000 to the Cape Leopard Trust, aligning with the shared 20th anniversary of both the CLT and the Absa Cape Epic event.
This unique initiative will see Aramex South Africa donate R5,000 on behalf of the UCI Women’s team that wins each of the eight stages (prologue plus seven stages). This commitment not only highlights Aramex’s support for elite women athletes but also underscores its dedication to environmental conservation and the empowerment of women in leadership roles.
“The Cape Leopard Trust, being a female-led conservation organisation, represents a rare and inspirational model in the industry. Our collaboration with them during the Absa Cape Epic reflects our commitment to supporting women’s achievements, both in sports and in conservation,” said Ryan Jones, Marketing Manager of Aramex | Sub-Saharan Africa.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of both the Cape Leopard Trust and the Absa Cape Epic, making this partnership even more momentous. The Cape Leopard Trust’s research, conservation and education efforts focused on the elusive and majestic leopards of the Cape is vital for the preservation of this magnificent species and their habitat.
“We are immensely grateful for this generous support from Aramex South Africa,” said Jeannie Hayward, Communications and Media Manager of the Cape Leopard Trust. “This partnership not only provides crucial funding for our conservation efforts but also aligns perfectly with our ethos of female empowerment and environmental stewardship.”
Aramex’s involvement in the Absa Cape Epic highlights its ongoing commitment to social responsibility, environmental conservation, and the promotion of sports. By supporting the Cape Leopard Trust, Aramex South Africa is not only contributing to the preservation of one of South Africa’s most iconic species but is also empowering a new generation of women leaders in the conservation field.
About The Cape Leopard Trust
The Cape Leopard Trust (CLT) is an environmental NGO and non-profit, founded in 2004 and based in the Western Cape, South Africa. They facilitate and promote the conservation of biological diversity, with a focus on the leopard as a flagship species. The CLT’s purpose and vision is to ensure the continued survival of leopards for the benefit of nature and society, by supporting the protection of leopard habitat and prey species, promoting peaceful coexistence between leopards and people, and fostering community custodianship of the Cape’s unique biodiversity. They work to achieve this vision through rigorous scientific research, conservation-in-action initiatives, environmental education and outreach, and positive communication, in collaboration with communities, private landowners and partner organisations.
